Job Description:
Are you a programmer and developer by nature looking to make your mark on new software applications? You will be working in a product team and will design, enhance, and maintain all aspects of the Retail Petro-Canada mobile application and website. You will apply your disparate skillset including solution design; programming; network programming; database design and query tuning; web application development; integration with other corporate systems; and ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and implement solutions to requirements that are easily maintainable, highly scalable, tested, and good quality
- Stay abreast of changes and opportunities as they pertain to MFP (MobileFirst Platform), IBM cloud, iOS and Android
- Create and present team changes to change management team
- Design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements and upgrades
- Ensure reliable operations and maximal uptime
- Lead technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex production system issues, including critical issues that might occur outside of normal business hours
- Be the primary point of contact for Retail Petro-Canada application and website related questions and issues
- Propose architecture and design optimizations
- Create relevant documentation as required including conceptual design, logical and physical designs, bill of materials, as-built diagrams, knowledge transfer materials, FAQs, and transition to operations information
- Ensure technology designs and implementations solve clients’ requirements and challenges
- Analyze complex requirements and develop IT strategies and multi-technology solutions that are aligned with industry-accepted best practices
- Understand business and technical requirements, and assess multiple technical alternatives to recommend the most optimal solution design/architecture
Job Requirements:
- Solid understanding of software development practices and design patterns
- Strong working knowledge of database concepts, including indexing, query plans and query hints, locking, transaction isolation levels, and normalization
- Ability to adapt to and work effectively with clients and co-workers with different styles and levels of technical knowledge
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with software development practices such as version control, unit testing, performance profiling, debugging, and reading and writing technical documentation
- Working knowledge of cloud services
- Ability to quickly learn new languages/frameworks, absorbing large, legacy codebases, and independently researching and implementing solutions to technical problems
- Working experience across corporate, web, and mobile application design and development
- Industry experience working with MFP (MobileFirst Platfrom), iOS and Android
- Hands-on experience and passion for mobile application development

- Knowledge of integrating cloud services to other cloud services
- Proficiency in Microsoft O/S and M/S products
- Knowledge of Agile Frameworks, DevOps Automation, cloud platform and services
- Ability to communicate directly with business and technical stakeholders to identify needs, troubleshoot problems, collaborate on new designs, and write technical documentation
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience with ASP.NET
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Experience with MuleSoft
- Experience with architectural patterns of a large, high-scale web and mobile application (e.g. Efficient algorithms, well-designed APIs, and high-volume data pipelines)
- Experience in Cloud based solution design and using cloud tools like Azure data lake
