Do you have a passion for plant operations and are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in an ever-changing and dynamic process operator role in Fort McMurray? You will work side-by-side with some of the most talented operators in the energy industry and will perform duties associated with the smooth and efficient operation of our assets in the assigned work area to meet our operational objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow all operating processes and procedures during operations to ensure the safety of our people, equipment, and the environment
  • Learn all operating units within the assigned upgrading progression at the facility and progress in increasing levels of responsibility at the site
  • Prepare and complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findings in a timely manner
  • Report and appropriately flag all plant-related issues beyond your scope to your leader
  • Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs
  • Perform required plant operation duties and communicate all shift changes clearly and effectively
  • Provide direction and supervision to the maintenance and contract personnel as required
  • Maintain housekeeping in your assigned area at a high level
  • Prepare equipment and systems for maintenance and commissioning

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Alignment with our values safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity
  • Mechanical aptitude to allow the hands-on operation of plant equipment
  • One year of experience in plant operations; experience in heavy oil processing, sour gas processing, water treatment/power plants or refinery operations is preferred
  • A highly motivated self-starter who makes decisions with integrity in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions associated with process upsets
  • Proven ability to provide personal and technical mentorship to others by building strong, positive relationships
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • An adaptive work style with an ability to handle multiple priorities, challenging demands, and function in a positive but dynamic work environment
  • 3rd Class Power Engineering certification (or higher); ABSA certified
