Job Description:
PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Job Responsibilities:
- Checks drawings, designs, or other work.
- Coordinates and directs the work of employees in lower classifications and provides guidance for training, orientation, or familiarization purposes to associates engaged in allied work.
- Prepares designs, calculations, drawings, layouts and/or studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, rough diagrams, or specifications.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in the appropriate field of engineering from a recognized college or its equivalent in education and experience.
- Equivalency may include education and design drafting experience totaling six years, or education and experience totaling four years including two years at PG&E as a Design Drafter or Senior Design Drafter.
- Must have a working knowledge of material and equipment including commonly used national specifications and standards, building, or other appropriate codes and fundamental engineering principles and techniques.
