Job Description:

As the Provisions Product Quality and Safety lead you are responsible for the management and improvement of all quality assurance and food safety systems at Patagonia Provisions. You will be responsible for elevating and monitoring all manufacturing and supply chain partners by providing risk assessments of new products and facilities to the product team. In this role you will also support the Patagonia retail and sales teams in all FSQA related efforts. You will manage all related documentation by creating a system of policies and procedures with the goal of ensuring the larger supply chain, sourcing and product related activities are completed in manner that identifies risk, establishes control measures and monitors results.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Co-packers and engage in all activities related to product quality and safety
  • Manage and administer manufacturer (Co-packer) approval and verification programs
  • Monitor Co-packers and engage in all activities related to product quality and safety
  • Collaborate with co-packers to control and maintain consistent product quality
  • Review production samples submitted by manufacturers and provide timely feedback and corrective actions when necessary
  • Perform regular site visits and coordinate 3rd party evaluations of manufacturers
  • Manage product retain library and administrate evaluations of product shelf-life
  • Support the sales team’s product demo and sampling efforts to ensure consistency and food safety
  • Provide regular updates and monthly reports of product quality and key performance indicators.
  • In cooperation with the Food Scientist establish systems for the evaluation of existing product lines and provide recommendations on product improvements
  • In cooperation with the Food Scientist investigate technical issues as they arise and report to the larger team with actionable solutions

Job Requirements:

  • Meticulous – extreme attention to detail.
  • Passionate: Have passion for the mission of Patagonia Provisions and making a change in food/agriculture space.
  • Able to effectively prioritize workload and work independently in a startup environment.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and FSMA rules, trainings and certification a plus
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry in quality control or food safety.
  • Innovative – proven skill at problem-solving and thinking outside of the box.
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility, strong relationship management and ability to focus on large strategic priorities while maintaining focus on the details.
  • Organized – able to put plans together and keeping the team/project ahead of schedule
  • Ability and willingness to provide regular sensory evaluation of our products and potential ingredients.
  • Robust attention to details and highly organized record keeping and process improvement.
