Job Description:
The successful applicant will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable paediatric intensive care doctor who is also a competent practitioner in the assessment and management in the transport of the critically ill child. Applicants should be trained in all aspects of paediatric intensive care, including emphasis on training in transport medicine. Applicants who have experience of managing service delivery and service change will be especially welcome. Applicants should already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training.

- The COMET – East Midlands Paediatric Transport Service is hosted by University Hospital of Leicester, and operates from two clinical bases, one in Nottingham and one in Leicester.
- As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced police criminal records disclosure will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application. Further information about the disclosure scheme can be found on home office website.
- The successful applicant will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
Job Requirements:
- APLS provider
- Higher professional degree
- Able to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
- Experience of change management
- Substantial experience in the transfer of critically ill children
- Higher management degree or qualification or training
- Full GMC registration
- Evidenced technical skills as described in the job description
- CCT expected within 6 months of interview date
- Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register
- Has completed training in Paediatric Intensive Care as specified by RCPCH PICM CSAC or training assessed to be equivalent by the GMC OR
- Existing practicing substantive consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care
- MRCP/MRCPCH/FRCA/FRCS or equivalent.
