Job Description:
Are you passionate about joining a team that’s responsible for asset care on a variety of equipment within our Base Plant Upgrader? We have a phenomenal opportunity for a Rotating Equipment Engineer who will wants to collaborate with multi-functional teams, maintenance, and operations groups to drive safe equipment reliability at an optimal cost.
Job Responsibilities:
- Investigate and perform root-cause analysis of failures related to rotating equipment
- Ensure equipment design changes align with the engineering management systems and are evaluated for the impact on equipment reliability; lead the engineering design of minor plant and equipment modifications
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to troubleshoot complex reliability issues with rotating equipment
- Improve existing asset strategies by working closely with maintenance, planners, and operations on reliability issues and failure trends; while refining condition monitoring programs
- Develop, implement, and oversee reliability improvements to continuously eliminate losses in the operation and care of plant rotating equipment
- Mentor junior engineers and support them in their development
- Use technical knowledge and project management skills to prepare work scopes and coordinate complex repairs such as equipment overhauls and maintenance projects
- Use risk review approaches, hazard and operability studies, management of change process, and other safety checks to maintain and improve area safety and reliability performance indicators
Job Requirements:
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
- Centrifugal and reciprocating compressor expertise
- Proven ability to develop practical and cost effective solutions to complex problems and drive them from concept to completion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
- Machinery diagnostics experience in System 1 and Prognost
- Industrial experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or power generation
- Experience in reliability management tools such as failure mode effect and analysis (FMEA), reliability centered maintenance (RCM), and root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
- 10 years of engineering experience with turbomachinery

- Proven track record of driving continuous improvement
- Multidisciplinary background in engineering, maintenance and operations
- Been registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
