Job Responsibilities:

This position works under the direction of an Ultrasound supervisor, coordinates and monitors performance of all Ultrasound staff and workflow for scheduled shifts. Uses sound, independent judgment to handle daily department operations and workflow in cooperation with Diagnostic Imaging staff, physicians, and coworkers across departments. Serves as a clinical and technical resource for patients, physicians, coworkers, and Ultrasound Department administration. Participates in department management activities and projects as needed. Exemplifies behaviors consistent with HonorHealth core values. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations in the Network. Performs a variety of technical Ultrasound procedures that require independent judgment. Assumes responsibility for designated areas, and procedures as required. Performs image quality assurance and data entry operation using appropriate hospital software packages. Percentage of time spent performing tasks may vary with departmental staffing needs. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictate. Performs all ultrasound techniques and examination; including but not limited to abdominal, OB/GYN, small part, vascular, Doppler, and eye scans by selecting proper technical factors on individual patient basis. Reviews patient identification, orders, and history to ensure correct patient, procedure, imaging site and protocols procedure with radiologist as needed. Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists them into position using safe patient handling techniques and equipment. Observes patient during procedure to ensure patient’s safety and comfort. Obtains and evaluates images for technical quality assurance factors including image laterality marking and annotation as required by procedure protocols. Utilizes RIS, PACS, and other, ancillary image management systems as needed. Works with the department supervisor to plan, schedule, and coordinate daily workflow for the department’s activities. Maintains equipment in efficient operating order. Performs and documents all required quality control testing. Contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed. Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictates. Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed. Initiates, or assists supervisor, with minor staff reward or disciplinary. Assists supervisor in awards and disciplinary action as appropriate. Acts in an advisory capacity during staff evaluations. Participates in coordinating and monitoring Ultrasound staff department orientation, modality training, competency assessment, and in servicing staff on new equipment, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED and completion of an ARDMS-accredited Ultrasound training program Required Experience 1 year general and vascular Ultrasound experience. Required Licenses and Certifications Radiology\ARDMS – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography Registered ARDMS Required Other Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider course. Required
