Job Description:
The Infection Prevention Education Manager is an expert in infection prevention and provides support to company facilities in the clinical review, training, and evaluation of regulatory requirements for Infection Prevention (IP) and Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) prevention activities. This position is responsible for implementing and facilitating an organizational infection prevention onboarding and continuing education program for the Infection Preventionists across all practice settings that encompasses all the domain elements, practice standards and core competencies delineated by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and the Certification Board in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC). The incumbent represents infection prevention in organizational projects that include education to consumers, workforce and the community. The IP education manager will establish and maintain strong relationships with the AH Infection Preventionists (IPs) and will solicit feedback, be sensitive to IP issues, promptly respond, and commit to fiscal responsibility. The IP education manager will promote the AH mission/vision for quality and safety
Job Responsibilities:
- Applies epidemiology principles in risk reduction, investigation, management and prevention of HAI.
- Assesses the educational needs of the facility infection preventionists and provides strategies to meet those needs
- Creates an onboarding program that supports new infection preventionists and meets regulatory requirements
- Supports and provides training to promote board certification in infection control
- Coordinates the standardization of IP practice tools across AdventHealth
- Advances infection prevention by sharing knowledge and engaging in research projects in collaboration with other corporate departments and facilities
- Supports infection prevention leadership in the coordination and completion of projects within specified time, budget and scope
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and work groups to design, implement, and evaluate infection prevention-related improvement projects
- Collaborates with the IP Surveillance resource manager in supporting AH facility IPs surveillance support requests
- Provides consultation/education to facility programs regarding infection prevention issues
- Collaborates with Corporate IP Director to write, review and revise policies regarding infection prevention as necessary
Qualification & Experience:
- Minimum of five years of Infection Prevention experience in health care setting
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related field required: Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health and/or Epidemiology.
- Experience in providing education to various audiences
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC)
