Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the effectiveness of external suppliers of public relations activities
  • Proactively identify and assess media and executive visibility opportunities that enhance visibility and understanding of Lilly’s scientific innovation story
  • Coordinate with Content, Creative and Channels and Enterprise Communications to ensure discovery and innovation communications is reflected in Lilly’s internal and “owned” channels and is integrated with earned media efforts for maximum impact
  • Coach and develop a team of communications professionals who will implement communications initiatives to support global communications objectives
  • Support the d evelop ment and lead implementation of a comprehensive discovery and innovation communications strategy that drives home a critical component of the Lilly narrative, including scientific milestones, COVID-19 work, and technology advancements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Chief Scientific Officer and other R&D executives
  • Track metrics for external communications activities to evaluate effectiveness of communication plans, messages and vehicles

Job Requirements:

  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare experience and expertise
  • Experience managing teams and cross-company initiatives
  • Ability to think strategically and broadly, focus on key priorities and translate strategy into action
  • Ability to lead a team with diverse communications responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage through interpersonal issues
  • Proven ability to lead, plan, develop and implement projects/programs that advance business objectives
  • Proven ability to effectively counsel senior management on communications strategies and ideas in verbal and written formats
  • Ability to manage issues and crises and stay calm under pressure
  • Demonstrated teamwork and ability to influence cross-functionally within and outside of corporate affairs
  • A results-oriented team player
  • Ability to inspire confidence within the organization and with external constituencies
  • Ability to balance the needs of various internal and external parties with flexibility and a steady temperament
  • Ability to act and think globally, ensuring inclusion of affiliate and regional communicators

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of diverse communications experience within corporate or pu blic relations agency environments including strong media re lations and issues management
