Job Description: The Manager Bridge Maintenance will be responsible for ensuring the inspection, maintenance and construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other railway structures including buildings and other facilities in accordance with the requirements of CP’s standards and any other applicable regulating/governing organizations. The successful candidate will oversee a staff of unionized employees to ensure safety and productivity in full compliance with standards, policies, regulations and operating rules. In addition, the individual will provide leadership to help ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective operation of the railway as it relates to the Structures Department. Job Responsibilities: Work interdependently with other CP operating departments and internal customers. Develop and execute Safety Programs to ensure that employees work in a safe and approved manner (compliance with Policies, SPC’s, Work practices); Heavily involved in the development and execution of multi-year construction and maintenance plans for assigned territory; Ensure that work is carried out in a manner that complies with applicable collective bargaining agreements; Project Management of bridge, culvert, retaining wall, tunnel repair/replacement projects; Responsible for cost effective management and delivery of Capital, Programmed Expense and Operating budgets; Liaise and Co-ordinate with regulatory agencies, third parties and other CP departments to ensure the timely execution of Structures maintenance and project work; Inspect bridges, culverts, retaining walls, Structures and Facilities in accordance with all applicable Regulatory and CP Policies and procedures; Supervise and lead staff to ensure the safe and effective execution of work; Ensure the application of CP safety practices, policies and procedures by all direct reports; Accountable for current year execution and provides information/recommendations for annual/multiyear capital planning priorities. Job Requirements: Must be or become a qualified bridge inspector; Minimum 5 years’ of previous railway experience; 3 to 5 years’ of working knowledge in Engineering (Engineer/Technologist) is preferred; Effective communication skills, written/oral and understanding of computer systems; Capability to develop and manage a project plan/schedule; Ability to work with people, with integrity. 5 years’ experience in construction considered an asset; Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills; High School diploma or GED Equivalent; Working knowledge of accounting principles, budgets, or financial statements; Strong Leadership skills; Job Details: Company: Canadian Pacific Railway Vacancy Type: Full Time Job Location: Toronto, ON, CA Application Deadline: N/A Apply Here careerstrivia.net
