Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Functional Delivery is responsible for functional delivery of SAP IBP Solution. The position builds strong partnering relationships across Information and Technology (I&T) delivery organizations and third-party solution providers. The role leads a team, including vendor partners to drive the functional delivery of the SAP IBP Solution. The position integrates other business applications, which are aligned with enterprise architecture standards and principles, leveraging common solutions and services. Furthermore, the role assumes leadership and provides governance within the scope of technology to ensure quality and coherence of solutions through the systems evolution. The incumbent develops, implements, and supports the I&T solutions within the SAP IBP technology landscape. The position oversees SAP IBP development, documentation, testing, and release of software programs Workflow, Report, Interface, Conversion, Enhancement, and Forms (WRICEF’s) from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools. The role prepares and maintains appropriate documentation to comply with quality assurance and implementation standards and to facilitate review. The incumbent supports initial builds and modification of existing software, as well as the integration of cloud-based solutions (SaaS, PaaS) within the SAP IBP landscape.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper transition to the I&T operations
  • Recognize employee milestones, including service awards and retirement as well as significant contributions and enhanced responsibilities
  • Ensure quality Key Performers Indicators (KPIs) are identified, measured, and produced as well as aligned with development standards
  • Collaborate, coach, and build connections with employees
  • Partner with Human Resources (HR) to bring new talent to the organization, determining the skills and roles required in the future and making hiring decisions thoughtfully
  • Follow principles, best practices, standards, and methodologies to implement a solution development approach, considering quality, change, visibility, collaboration and feedback, simplicity, and value
  • Oversee technical delivery governance for third-party partners delivering solutions within the SAP IBP landscape
  • Maintain efficiency within the area of responsibility for internal and external, including I&T suppliers, deliverables for the Project Lifecycle
  • Create and enable a positive and engaging work environment, ensuring individual strengths are recognized and leveraged through frequent and focused conversations
  • Develop, grow, and manage strategic supplier partnerships such as system integrators and software
  • Drive standards, best practices, and consistent delivery processes, leveraging development and operations, agile and factory models with a continuous improvement mindset and approach
  • Optimize efficiency and cost by leveraging right tooling, patterns, and delivery capabilities
  • Participate in succession planning, contribute to the yearly talent review cycle and identify employees with potential for growth in Management and expertise paths
  • Improve processes by maximizing automation opportunities
  • Provide a positive and welcoming onboarding experience to new employees
  • Manage employee performance, identifying underperforming employees and support them through performance improvement process
  • Ensure staff is properly trained and that workload is appropriately distributed
  • Manage the Product Lifecycle and SAP products and ancillary systems to maintain operational excellence and oversee the Technical Department
  • Spearhead enhancements to the set of SAP IBP Solutions
  • Focus on communication and foster collaboration providing regular updates to teams about ongoing initiatives and encouraging them cooperate to accomplish common goals and learning
  • Support the response time Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Control the coordination for change and release management to limit collisions and conflicts for weekly, monthly and project go-lives
  • Manage the delivery of SAP IBP components, including WRICEF’s delivered by internal development teams and third-party partners

Job Requirements:

  • Participation in lifecycle implementations or equivalent experience
  • Applies critical thinking
  • Minimum 10 years of SAP and large program implementation experience
  • Collaborates with others and shares information

  • SAP certifications*
  • Knowledge of CN and the rail industry*

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience or equivalent

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Bachelor’s Degree in Business* or related technical Bachelor’s Degree or work experience

  • Ability to develop project documentation, training materials, requirements gathering, and project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of SAP and ERP ecosystems
  • Proficient with DevOps methodology and toolchain.
  • Project and time management
  • Proficient in development practices and proven methodologies, including Agile, Iterative, and Waterfall
  • Proficient in planning and forecasting processes
  • Knows the business and stays current on industry needs
  • Between 5 to 6 years of experience working with the SAP IBP, Production Planning (PP), Production Planning Detailed and Scheduling (PPDS), and Supply Chain Management (SCM) modules
  • Experience defining system architecture, executing a business blueprint, and documenting business requirements that can be understood by a technical process team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience in Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), and Request for Quotation (RFQ) process
  • Experience with SAP IBP and integration to SAP S4 and SCM
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
