The Department of Internal Services is currently offering multiple employment opportunities for dedicated, self-reliant individuals interested in the position of Security Officer.

Job Responsibilities:

The Security Division is responsible for the physical security of County employees and citizens. Security Officers accomplish this by patrolling buildings and grounds to ensure security and fire protection, securing facilities to prevent unauthorized entry, enforcing security rules and regulations, and reporting illegal security breaches and behavior to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Ideal candidates should possess keen observation skills, the ability to adapt to a variety of situations requiring sound judgment and have exceptional interpersonal skills.

Job Requirements:

• Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III – Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.
