Job Description:

The focus of this role is to prepare the pension and other post-employment benefits (OPEB) related disclosures for Enbridge Inc. and its subsidiaries, draft annual pension plan financial statements, coordinate pension plan audits, and support process improvement initiatives of the Financial Reporting team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual and interim financial statements and related note disclosures pertaining to pensions and OPEBs for Enbridge Inc. and applicable subsidiaries, including the maintenance of SOX compliant support documentation and any other support required for external audit purposes.
  • Prepare the monthly pension and OPEB accounting entries for Enbridge Inc. and all of its subsidiaries, including supporting documentation, on multiple GL systems.
  • Participate in and/or lead continuous process improvement initiatives and special projects within Financial Reporting team.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements for various other Enbridge Inc. subsidiaries, investments and joint venture partners.
  • Assist in the preparation of Pension Committee reports and memoranda.
  • Complete timely account reconciliations for pension & OPEB accounts in accordance with the applicable Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls compliance requirements.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of annual financial statements for each of the registered pension plans and certain OPEB plans, including planning, liaison and coordination with actuaries and external auditors to ensure efficient completion and timely external audit execution.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the FP&A team to ensure that changes to budgets or forecasts are accurate, supportable and understood and that variances to actual results are explained. Liaise regularly with human resources and treasury departments to ensure budgets and forecasts contemplate accurate anticipated business changes.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of an accounting designation required
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently.
  • Financial system skills; experience with financial accounting systems and applications (for example, Oracle, SAP and HFM) an asset.
  • High level of professional integrity.
  • Proven competency in Microsoft office.
  • You possess post-secondary education and 4 or more years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Motivated to challenge status quo and embrace change.
  • Prior experience in pension reporting an asset.
  • Cooperative, collaborative and responsive to the requirements of others.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP with an aptitude for and interest in complex accounting subjects.
  • Analytical and inquisitive individual with an attention for detail.
