Job Description:
This is an opportunity to join an exciting and fast-growing segment within the asset management industry. The successful candidate will be given an opportunity to be involved in shaping and evolving sustainability data and its many use cases across an increasing number of teams in the organization (investment research, sales, marketing, risk management, fund platform, index providers, investment strategy, Sustainable, Factors and Thematic teams, amongst others).
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyse industry trends across data, index research and innovation
- Partner with Engine and Product teams on global initiatives related to sustainable index methodology to ensure global coordination, commercial
- viability, and product governance
- Support the index research agenda on sustainable benchmarks in conjunction with team lead
- Support the development of thought leadership content with supporting evidence/research
- Conduct research and due diligence on new data and index sources
- Support discussions on additional data sources from index providers to be used by BlackRock and the Aladdin community
- Communicate and deliver presentations to stakeholders across the firm on data, index research and innovation strategy
- Be a key contributor in building out index research analytics and testing infrastructure (in conjunction with PAG and BIS)
- Collaborate with colleagues across Product Strategy, Innovation, Portfolio Consulting, Risk Management, Product Engineering and Legal teams
Job Requirements:
- Attention to detail and ability to pick up and digest new information quickly
- Good communication skills, including written and presentation skills
- Highly organised and able to adhere to tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and manage a variety of stakeholders
- Commercial awareness and ability to understand client needs and identify solutions
- Proven track record operating in a fast-paced environment
- Sense of initiative and enthusiasm to join the fastest growing segment of the BlackRock’s business
- Self-motivated and dedicated to excellence
- Degree in a quantitative discipline is strongly preferred
- Strong research background and academic credentials
- Basic programming skills (Python, R)
- Knowledge of index construction methodologies and terminology
- Good knowledge of fixed income preferred
- Working knowledge of investment risk management tools is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of sustainable investment and ESG data (MSCI/Sustainalytics as a minimum) preferred
