Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as a member of the Alternatives Advisory Compliance team within BlackRock’s Legal & Compliance Department. The ideal candidate will have experience providing advisory guidance on Alternatives regulatory compliance topics with respect to one or more of the following strategies: Real Assets, Private Equity, Alternative Solutions, Single Strategy Hedge Funds, and/or Hedge Fund of Funds in addition to Alternatives deal sourcing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support multiple alternatives investment teams with regulatory compliance questions, including those related to conflicts of interest, investment allocation, and the handling of material nonpublic information (MNPI)
- Implement compliance programs/control frameworks relevant to regulatory risks and requirements around Alternatives’ investing
- Provide support and back-up for broader Advisory Compliance related initiatives and centralized compliance functions such as information barriers and expert networks
- Develop and/or execute periodic testing and oversight of investment team activities
- Partner with Legal & Compliance colleagues, business units, and other control functions to understand opportunities and create solutions to appropriately navigate potential and actual issues
- Participate in the analysis and implementation of regulatory reform
- Lead or support projects, including implementation, related to global and/or regional strategic initiatives and priorities
- Draft, review and/or implement policies, procedures and processes to help ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry practices
- Prepare and present management information reporting
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of compliance training and education programs
Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or law degree a plus
Qualification & Experience:
- 6+ years of asset management compliance, consulting or regulatory experience, preferably buy-side experience
- Knowledge of the US federal securities laws (e.g., Investment Advisers Act of 1940); knowledge of other US and non-US regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA, CNVB) a plus
- Demonstrable track record supporting compliance frameworks related to Alternatives investing with proficient understanding of one or more of the following Alternatives asset classes: Single Strategy Hedge Funds, Hedge Fund of Funds, Private Equity (Direct and Fund of Funds
- Investing), and/or Real Assets
- Experience addressing MNPI and conflicts of interest
- Prior experience drafting and implementing policies and procedures
