Job Description: Amazon’s Global Supplier Management team (GSM) Procurement team is responsible for the strategy, development and execution of the global supplier management activity for the Global Procurement Organization (GPO) overseeing a spend of $45B. As our Global Supplier Management team continues to grow, we are seeking Sr, Program Managers to partner with internal business owners and key stakeholders to drive procurement and operational value for Amazon. This role leads the development and execution of indirect buy capital sourcing strategies for critical components and projects. Our Global Procurement Program Managers drive efficiencies in procurement strategy and commercial contract management, enable engineering efficiencies through effective partnership with Amazon’s design teams, and support Amazon’s long-term business interests through supplier partnerships. The Global Supplier Management team has four key pillars which includes Supplier Contract Management, Supplier Risk Management, Supplier Performance Management and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) & development. The GSM team will work with Category Teams, Project Management Organization (PMO), Worldwide Design Engineering (WWDE), Finance, Global Engineering Services (GES) Operations Engineering (Ops Eng.), and Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) to accomplish key deliverables across the indirect spend. Job Responsibilities: Lead key global supplier management initiatives with external suppliers to improve supplier performance, mitigate supply risk and enable Amazon’s sustainability goals Support common (standard work), including the supplier development process, supplier selection process, supplier capacity & safety initiatives and continued managed expansion of the supplier base. Develop and nurture strong strategic relationships with key suppliers and business partners to deliver, seeking to continually raise the bar, their performance objectives for the business. Support multi-year strategic plans for material handling spend and supplier base development, including implementation of plans to maximize supplier performance: capacity, cost, quality, delivery, and safety. Facilitate suppliers’ understanding of Amazon policies, equipment design standards, budget and cost targets, and service and quality expectations. Develop and utilize improved metrics and data driving decision making capabilities to improve overall organizational capability through systems and processes and drive continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives throughout the organization. Working with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, focusing on total cost of ownership. Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies; maintaining procurement ethics in accordance with Amazon’s global policies. Preparing and holding business reviews with stakeholders to review vendor performance, supply chain, future opportunities, and/or challenges. (QBR/MBR) Travel up to 25% Establishing strong relationships with internal business partners; building a robust understanding of strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories. Evaluating supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the category strategy development process. Job Requirements: Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding our business, projects, solution designs, technology innovations, and opportunities to improve the effectiveness of our capital equipment procurement processes and to use analytical and quantitative skills to utilize data and metrics to develop business cases and support recommendations. 10+ years of domestic/international supplier management, supply chain, procurement, or operations experience. Bachelor’s degree within Engineering, Business, or related field Extensive strategic sourcing experience and supplier management expertise including in an indirect procurement function, at a multinational corporation, with global contracts. Experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, Supplier Scorecards, Risk Assessment, Supplier Qualifications, Supplier Audits, contracting, etc.).
